P8 Expectations

Although all of the entries on this site are written from my point of view (I’m Brian, nice to meet you), it is really about Brian and Kirke. We have known each other since 1998 when we met at a function for the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce. 

We had been friends for years and after both of us were divorced, we started dating. Three years and a month later, we got married. In between that time, we had many adventures and have often said, “We should write a book.”

No publisher would want it but we want to keep the memories. So if you would like to live vicariously through the blog and know who we are and hear about our adventures, then you are in the right place.

Kirke Hooper Pate, also known as “wifey,” “Princess Chuck,” “Golden Ass” and “Sexy Beast,” is the wife. She is in the financial industry. Can’t say more than that because the company probably wouldn’t like it.

I’m Brian Michael Pate and I am a former disc jockey, former ring announce for wrestling and current real estate agent and instructor. Don’t worry, this site will NOT be where you get bombarded with cheesy real estate advertising, although I might make fun of the industry occasionally. 

We live in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Before you ask how close we are to the university, it is 2 hours west of us in Winston-Salem. The Town of Wake Forest is where the college USED to be before it was moved to Winston in 1956. We are about 15 miles north of downtown Raleigh. It will take an hour to get to Raleigh during rush hour traffic, which is between 7:30am and 7:30pm Monday through Friday.

There are four kids and three dogs in our lives. She drinks a lot of prosecco and I have a bourbon collection that will probably last me the rest of my life. Baseball is an obsession for us and we love to travel and explore things together. Our favorite thing to do is sit on the back porch watching a baseball game while I smoke a cigar and she reads. Being in our early 50s, you might think that is the most exciting thing we do, but it is not.
